Nice video thanks. I am thinking of doing a career change and was looking at leasing in NYC. Currently in my 40's with high level executive business experience. I get the impression these jobs are very entry level. Do you see a lot of people coming from different careers and is there a path to use past experience to fast track in the real estate field that you have seen? Thank you for any insight.

Anyway, could you please advise what are the rental criteria usually, in your experience, like, for example, that salary should be 2.5x or 3x the rent, things like that. And what is usually included and not included from utilities, meaning to understand how much more to put in budget for internet, water, sewer, trash, etc. Thanks again!

I currently live in the deep south of Louisiana, not in a city but in a remote area surrounded by dense forests. The nearest big city is New Orleans which is about a 2 hr drive. As a small woman, I lived and worked in NOLA alone for 6 months. Despite the obvious dangers (NOLA being one of the most dangerous cities in America) I absolutely loved my time there and only had 1 instance where I felt in danger - though to be honest I didn’t traverse the city frequently, I mostly stayed in my hotel or commuted to work since I wasn’t super familiar with the area. I think a lot of people don’t realize that dangers exist literally everywhere, esp if you’re a small not very intimidating woman who’s alone. I can’t even take a walk down my street without bringing my large dog with me for fear of being kidnapped in the middle of the woods. I visited Chicago at the start of 2022 for a concert and stayed for a few days before flying back. In that super short period of time, I absolutely fell in love with the city and didn’t want to leave. I plan to move there in the next few years - I have my heart set on the River North or South Loop area.

I’m glad you were not seriously harmed. I’ve lived in Chicago for over 20 years. In the past couple of years, one of my friends was robbed at gunpoint on a Friday night at 9pm in a very good neighborhood. My next door neighbors best friends were carjacked at gunpoint in Bucktown on a Sunday morning at 8:30am. Their baby was in the backseat in a car seat. Thank goodness the carjacker allowed them to remove the baby from the car. Please always be extra aware regardless of the time of day.

Hey boo i am so glad you are okay. I am born and raised from the south suburbs and grew up coming to Chicago my whole life. I recently just got back to Chicago from being stationed in Japan for 6 years. Japan is so calm and everyone leaves you alone. I work in the westloop now and witnessed a robbery in lululemon. I was so scared. I’ve never seen anything like that in Chicago before despite the Chicago stereotype. I love Chicago and I am moving to the city this week. My point is I’m glad yr safe but people are acting crazy in Chicago lately but also all over America right now. It’s a scary time to be in America. But please stay safe. Love yr vlogs

Sorry to hear that. Every major city stuff happens. Hence why it's smart to never wear headphones, stare at your phone when out--too many people do and make yourself a target/not aware. This sounds like someone mentally ill as others have said.

I am so glad that you were not harmed and you are now safe. However, I believe that was in person with a mental health issue to simply approach you and attempt to hit you or successfully hit you. So many mentally challenged people that are not compliant with their medication and do not have access to appropriate mental health services. Again, I’m so happy you’re safe.

Danger is real. We don't live in a perfect world it can happen to anyone and in any area. Just gotta be cautious and stay vigilant.

So glad you are okay 👍. My daughter was attacked twice when she lived there, the 2nd time by 2 guys who knocked her out & left her for dead behind a building in 10 below Temps at night. Fortunately someone in a car saw it happen & called for a rescue squad. She woke up in the hospital. Was very hard on this mamma's heart ❤️

I’m sorry that happened to you. An experience like that can happen in any major city. I lived downtown Houston and I was chased by a homeless man all the way to my apartment building. He even tried to follow me into the building! Thankfully, a resident was exiting and I was able to run inside and close the door behind me. It was the scariest thing. I’m glad you’re OK. 😊

I'm so sorry that happened to you! I know how scary that is as well. I live in the Gold Coast/River North area too and I've had things like this happen to me. I'm very careful in the city as well but when things happen in the middle of the day, it's still terrifying. I was walking by Chicago/State and a woman came up and screamed so loud in my ear. I jumped away from her but she spit on me. I felt violated for a very long time and have kept on my guard ever since. This is usually a combination of drugs & mental illness. Don't let it frighten you from living your best life though. This is still a great neighborhood and city!

I've heard of stuff happening like this in NYC but not Chicago. Did you make a police report?
